GIRLS BOX lacrosse

  • “Rep” is short for “Representative,” referring to teams that represent the club in competition against other clubs. The Mississauga Badgers offer Girls Rep Box Lacrosse programs for athletes looking to develop their skills and compete at a higher level within the girls lacrosse stream.

Girls lacrosse provides a supportive, competitive environment that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and a love for the game.

This sector of lacrosse follows the same rules and physical play as boys box lacrosse, including full contact, as governed by the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA).

Players must be residentially bound to the Mississauga Badgers Lacrosse Association to participate in Rep programming.

In age divisions with sufficient interest, a second Rep team (Team 2) may also be formed. Rep teams are rated annually from “A” to “E” and compete in league play and provincial championships under the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA).

Girls Rep Box Lacrosse is introduced at the U11 level; however, co-ed opportunities are available for U7 and U9 players.

  • This age chart is for Box Rep registration, and only for the 2026 season:

    U7 - 2020/2021

    U9 - 2018/2019

    U11 - 2017/2016

    U13 - 2015/2014

    U15 - 2013/2012

    U17 - 2011/2010

    U22 - 2009-2005

    *The U7 and U9 programs are co-ed.

  • Ontario Lacrosse has residential boundary regulations that require players to play Rep in the next closest centre to their home address. Players don’t have to live in Mississauga but they must be residentially bound to the club to play Rep.

Families who are new to lacrosse can complete the Where Do I Play? form on the Ontario Lacrosse website to confirm their next closest centre.

  • Rep Box players are required to have:

    → lacrosse gloves

    → lacrosse stick

→ CSA-approved helmet with face mask

    → mouthguard

    → shoulder pads

    → arm and elbow guards

    → rib/back pads

    → athletic support and cup

For more information review our Equipment Guidelines.

More FAQs

  • The registration fees payable to the club cover a number of administrative expenses, including but not limited to: uniforms, floor and field permits for tryouts, practices and games, Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) team and provincial entry fees, equipment, coaching certification, referees and timekeepers, iPad rental and fees for GameSheet, insurance and the Lacrosse Canada (LC) participant fees per player/per sector.

  • Mississauga Badgers Lacrosse Association (MBLA) is proud to make available a registration refund prior to tryouts or team selections minus a non refundable segment. After that, there is a limited  time window  (after tryouts or team selections but prior to the first game), where we offer a partial refund (50%), however, no refunds will be issued once the season has begun, with the exception of a medical withdrawal when accompanied by a doctor's note (refund amount will be pro-rated) or if the association cancels the program.

    Refund Policy Notes:

    1. The non-refundable segment includes OLA fees, insurance cancellation fees, credit card fees as well any uniform costs, plus potential fees for tryouts and/or rep team placements or any additional fees beyond the control of MBLA.

    2. A refund will not be issued under any circumstances where a player becomes suspended, ejected or otherwise disqualified from eligible play by the OLA, OMFLL, OWFL, LC or by the MBLA.

    3. All refund requests must be made via email and addressed to our registrar. The email must include the specific reason for the refund request. The registrar will present this request to our Board of Directors during the next club meeting.

    4. The final amount of any refund requests for special or extenuating circumstances will be reviewed by our Board of Directors, with the Club President making the final monetary decision.

    5. If a player must withdraw for medical reasons after the start of the first game, a doctor’s note will be required to support the medical request. The non-refundable segment will be withheld plus a pro-rated amount for any portion of the season attended.

    6. For all leagues, rep and houseleague, should we be unable to run a season due to insufficient players, a full refund will be provided, with no administration fees being withheld.

    7. For both our houseleague and development league programs, all requests for a refund made within 2 weeks of the start date of the season, will be subject to an additional uniform fee being withheld in the amount of $45. Refunds will not be granted after the season begins (with the exception of a medical reason as noted above).

    8. A player release fee of $75 per player per sector will be deducted from the refund, on top of the non-refundable segment, in the event that our Executive approves the release request. (Player release fees will not be applied to sectors where we cannot run a team, and a wave through release is granted).

    9. No refunds will be issued until such time that any equipment that belongs to MBLA is returned and in a satisfactory condition.

    10. The refund process may take 4-6 weeks from the time the request is approved.

    11. Approved refunds will only be refunded to the original method of payment, to the original payee. Without exception.

  • No. For insurance purposes, all players must be registered to attend tryouts. Players that do not make a rep team will be refunded.

  • Prior to submitting a release request, the player must be registered and paid with their resident OLA association for the current year.

The OLA “Release Request Form” for the current year must be used in all cases where a player wishes to be released from his/her current lacrosse association in order to sign and play for another association.

The player, the parent or the guardian must complete all fields in Section 1 of the form and send it to the President of the association from which the release is requested.

Only the information presented in Section 1 will be considered; new reasons for a release will not be entertained should the association’s decision be appealed at any other level.

The association must respond to the applicant within 72 hours to acknowledge receipt of the request for a release. Within a reasonable time, the association is responsible for setting a date, time and location for when a release hearing will be held so that the applicant may be present to formally discuss the request.

There may be a fee for a release hearing at the association level.

Following the hearing, the association must complete Section 2 of the form with written reasons for granting or denying the request and provide the applicant with the information necessary to appeal to the Zone, should the applicant qualify to do so under the OLA Appeal’s Process.
